This lesson teaches the long vowel "e". Each lesson includes teacher information, vowel rules, teaching objectives, a picture card and 4 worksheets. Teacher directed instructions include auditory exercises for whole group instruction. A story or poem to help introduce the vowel and can be displayed on a SMART Board (or other interactive whiteboard) for whole group instruction. The long vowels should be taught in the following order: a,e,i,o,u, and long y. Use the macron symbol over long vowel sounds while students are learning the various rules that pertain to vowels. This will help teach students how to sound out words independently.
