Black History Month is a great time to recognize and celebrate the contributions and efforts made by Black Canadians to enrich our countrys diverse culture and growth. This month is a good time to familiarize your students with famous Black Canadians from the past and present and their importance. Remember to mention Michalle Jean Lafond our present Governor General of Canada and the first Black Canadian to hold this position. Use the information and follow-ups to strengthen your students awareness and understanding of the growth of Canadas Black Culture.
